Ship Tattoo for a Friend-ship.

Ornamental Ship Tattoo.

I did this tattoo on my apprenticeship. This is probably is my first custom tattoo design, my friend Faried want this Ship Tattoo because its reminded him his home village in Sumbawa. Of course the ornament I used is inspired from Tenun Sumba.

We do a sea wave on the lower part of the design, some bird near the sail and a sun on the top part of this design. The sun part is inspired by Batik Pattern.

At this point Faried already has 4 tattoo from me, the first one is an ornamental manta ray he took from my flash design collection, the second is a sea turtle and the third is an orca whale on his inner bicep, all of them was taken from my flash collection, He is basically my walking portfolio :)

I just realized that all of his tattoo is sea creature and a ship, it is basically remind me to my favorite movie The Pirates of The Caribbean LOL.

What I love from this design is the designing process. In fact Faried is a bit micromanage along the way which made me uncomfortable at first which at the end it make me know more my tattoo style and it is actually has a lot of potential to explore and a full spectrum combination that I can create, it’s a blessing in disguise.
