I Covered Up An Old Tattoo With Traditional Cloth Pattern Design From Sumatra Songket
Ornament Ankle Band Tattoo.
I Never think of doing a cover up tattoo project before, not until my client Natasha hit me up through Instagram DM asking for this cover up project.
She has an interesting tattoo to cover in my opinion. It is on her ankle, both inner side and outer side. it is 2K tribal style tattoo. And not until then I realized that my tattoo style really doing a good job for cover up project, Since my style involve heavy blocking and bold line.
I do a simple diamond shape to cover this side, the pattern I use is inspired from Tenun Sumba, not the pattern but the structure and also they play with some blocky stuff on the pattern so I decide to use it
I always love to tell the story or the philosophical reason of my design at the end of the session, and found out she is Sumatrans, a good little coincident, or not :)
However it is pretty challenging to do it for the first time -__- hehehe.
I choose pattern from Songket Sumatra as the main interest which placed in front and back of the ankle since it was an empty spot, I use something not so blocky, more of line work also it help create a dimension with the side part that will have some heavy blocking
