Philosophy is a something abstract, thought processing and idea, Tattoo is a visual form of art,
Through tattoo I try so hard and got so far, to interpreted that idea or concept and create a new visual aesthetic. Philosophy isn’t just live in certain design, it is become another key visual in my tattoo style.
In term of ornamental black work tattoo, grey element and negative space or invert is a rare occasion. I don’t remember from what book and what think I have been through, that I realize that human is really complex, there is not just good and bad, that is a lot in between. Make me remember the concept of Saput Poleng from Bali.
If you aware that my tattoo is always have the element of solid black, grey and white or invert. generally speaking those 3 always appear in my tattoo design, doesn’t matter the motif inspired by Songket from Sumatra, Tenun Sumba or Tenun Bali. That’s where the idea came from.
And also the Tri Datu Black, Red and white is symbolism of the human life cycle: birth, life, and death. A concept I borrow to be a reminder to appreciate life.
A tattoo to serve as a reminder this core idea I put generally through the style itself because it structured with philosophical reasoning. Doesn’t matter what their story or pattern chosen those concept is always been the DNA of my tattoo style.
